This past week, the Istanbul regional office of Turkey Labor Ministry investigated a UPS worker’s request about severance pay, and decided that he deserved the severance pay under law.

Strike if no collective bargaining agreement!

Workers of the Kadikoy Municipality, also members of the Genel-Is Union, have started a strike since their talks with the governor of Kadikoy, Selami Ozturk, did not result in a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). After 7 days of strike, workers gained. CBA is signed with 9 percent raise in wages and 245 Turkish Liras social assistance payment.

After waiting for an hour in front of the Assembly, protester workers were able to enter into the parliament with the efforts of BDP deputy Sırrı Sakık. Workers have talked with deputies from BDP and MHP.

Police attacked UPS workers (Video)

On the 62nd day of their resistance, fired UPS workers have been attacked by the police. UPS workers had been fired because they joined TÜMTİS.

Blast in Halkalı: 5 dead

Explosion occured during a military vehicle was passing through Istanbul, Halkalı. 5 people found dead, 4 of them were soldiers. 14 people are injured.

Israeli navy assaulted aid convoy, killing 9 passengers

An international aid convoy carrying aid to the Gaza strip got attacked by the Israeli naval commandos, early Monday morning. 9 activists found dead after the assault. Turkish authorities warned the Israeli government about the further consequences.

28 miners found dead

According to the Minister Yıldız, 28 of them found dead, 2 other miners are still missing and the rescue efforts are continuing at the mine at Karadon in the city of Zonguldak.

CHP leader Baykal quits after bedroom video

Deniz Baykal, the leader of the main opposition CHP for the last 10 years, resigned from his post after a video showing him half naked in a bedroom with a woman hit the internet. The incident comes at a crucial time when CHP was preparing for its congress later this month.
