DDK report: Dink has not been protected

The State Supervisory Council (DDK) announced today its report on the Armenian journalist Hrant Dink's murder.

It has been pointed out in the report that the existence of a threat against the safety of Dink was in the knowledge of the police department and the gendarmerie and that the intelligence offices did not take the necessary steps for Dink's protection. Some parts of the 653-page report have not been published due to a secrecy decision.

"Mistakes have been committed in the investigations of the government officials. The intelligence units did not cooperate for Dink's protection. The perpetrators were quickly arrested but the trial has not been carried out efficiently. The negligent government officials must be investigated. The public conscious has not been satisfied," said the report.

A summary of the report has been published in the website of the Presidency of Turkish Republic.
