Rally for "Boycott the Referendum"

Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) announced the start of the campaign to "boycott the referendum". On August 1st, the first rally for the campaign will take place at the Şişli Abide-i Hürriyet Square. More than one hundred thousand participants are expected.

BDP Marmara region started the campaign against the referendum with a meeting at the Istanbul regional office under the banners saying “neither yes, nor no, we want a democratic constitution”.  During the press statement, Avci said “ the real aims of the AKP government are surfacing more and more each day. Prime Minister’s tears are fake, and we all see the hypocrisy in his behaviors.”

“WE WILL START THE BOYCOTT CAMPAIGN ON AUGUST 1ST WITH A RALLY”

“Everybody knows unless the Kurdish problem is solved, the democratization problem won’t be solved. The war and bloodshed won’t stop. That’s why everybody who believes in peace, democracy and brotherhood need to oppose both the “yes” and “no” options. And the only way to do this is to boycott” continued Avci. He also said, to boycott is not to remain neutral, it is taking a position for solidarity and brotherhood. “We are going to unite with all groups who care about the future of Turkey, and resist violence and exploitation”, continued Avci, “We will build the boycott camp in all big cities and we will act together. In order to get “boycott” out of the ballot box, we as BDP will do anything in our power in written and digital media. And we invite all of you who believe in equality, peace, democracy, brotherhood-including intellectuals, writers, actors, and actresses, laborers, women, youth, and environmentalists to join forces at the “boycott” front!”

Avci invited all to the rally that will be at the Şişli Abide-i Hürriyet Square on August 1st.
